Rexburg Splash Park...

Up in Rexburg there is a really fun splash park that you would think the kids would LOVE...well, mine don't, but that doesn't stop me from trying :). They have warmed up enough to the idea that they go into the small bubbly water, but they still have not decided they actually want to go into the water on the slides and such...oh well, at least they look cute !!!

Shoshone Bannock Indian Festival‏

Every year Jake's Dad goes down to Pocatello to see the Indian Dance Festival but we are always gone somewhere so we only ever get to hear the drums beating in the background...not this year! We actually were around this weekend and took the trip down there. It was amazing to see all the different bead work! We didn't get to see much dancing, just the parade of participants come into the arena...which was still cool. Next time Jake and I are going to go buy ourselves so we can stay longer and actually see some of the dancing! Its cool to see all the different cultures that we live so close to but don't know much about!

Anthony's First Fun-Run...

Anthony has been getting into running since Jake and I are training for the half marathon. Ucon City had Founder's Day celebration this year and put on a 5K and fun run. Jake asked Anthony if he wanted to run in it and he immediately said YES! We were not sure how he would do running almost a mile because we had never had him just run anywhere but down the street. He was excited all morning asking when his run was. Once we got there he was just ready to go! Once the gun shot sounded, he was off. Jake said he was just running slow so that he didn't push Anthony too hard and Anthony looked up to him and said "Can we run faster Dad?" Jake said he did a great job and Anthony wasn't even winded when he came through the finish line. I think we have a future runner on our hands :)!!

Combined Birthday Party...

Since Jenna and Anthony have birthdays so close together we just throw them a combined birthday party for family! They always have so much fun and this year was no different! Hello Kitty, sleeping bags and lots of other toys made for a FUN evening! We ate pizza, pies and cupcakes...what party could be better. I cannot believe it has been a full year again and that these kids are growing up so quickly!

Batman to the Rescue...

Anthony decided on a Batman party this year. Its so fun when they have themes they care about! I had so much fun planning our Batman training activities.
We ate cake to grow big and strong...

We raced the batmobile through Gotham City...
We threw the batarang into a hula hoop...
We shot the Joker with silly string...
And we played Batman what time is it to make sure we were FAST enough...
and we broke meat plates from the deli in half to make sure we were STRONG enough!
All the kids got to take home their bat cap just for making it through the training of becoming Batman. The city of Ucon has nothing to fear with this many Batman's around!
Happy 5th Birthday Anthony!!

Hyelite canyon in Montana....

We went to a family rendezvous the last weekend in July at my cousins house in Bozeman Montana. One of the days we went up to a beautiful lake not far from their house and boated around, threw rocks in the lake and just enjoyed the beautiful scenery. We had a great time the whole time we were there just relaxing, playing with cousins and chatting! It was very needed and so relaxing to just get away and enjoy the slow pace of life! Cannot wait until we do it again!!!

Blue Angels Air Show....

The Blue Angels came to Idaho Falls and since I've been wanting to go to an air show for a long time now, we decided what better one to start out with :)...and Jake got a free ticket from work!! They were AMAZING. Watching the other planes wasn't the BEST, but it was worth the wait to watch the Blue Angels. If you look closely, there is a girl on top of the plane up above...that was crazy. One of the Red Bull racing planes came too and that was cool. There were a bunch of older planes too and they were all neat, but the highlight was for sure the Blue Angels. We sat at center point so every time they came in and twisted one way or the other it was RIGHT in front of us. Sometimes it was so close it would make me sick to watch them!

The kids had fun too and are STILL asking when they get to see the loud airplanes again. The Blue Angels practiced for a few days before the actual show and they would come RIGHT over our house. It was very cool! It was a super hot day and a long show, but it was very worth it! Can't wait for the next time!!

Rigby Lake...

It was so warm for about one week in July that we decided to go to Rigby Lake and let the kids swim and blow off some energy from having to stay inside because it was too hot outside. It was a nice break and the kids had a GREAT time playing in the water, especially ferrying the girls across to the other side in the little boat! Oh so many good times in the summer!!!

Petting a skunk...

Have you ever petted a REAL, stinker intact skunk? Me either :)....until a few weeks ago!

Jake's Dad has a friend who is an animal whisperer...seriously...animals love him. He has two pet skunks and has never been sprayed by them at all. They go with him everywhere in his truck. They are just like little cats. He will just pick them up and snuggle up to these skunks and everything. It was quite the adjustment getting used to watching him with them and not wanting to run away in fear that they would spray me :).

These boys have so much fun together when they actually get together! They 'almost' weighed the same thing so the teeter totter actually worked quite well :)!

Great Grandma Ruth Marie's funeral...

What a wonderful lady Grandma Ruth was. The funeral was absolutely beautiful and such an honor to be able to help with. When Grandpa Glenn died, they put all the grandkids hand on a cement block and buried it with him. Instead of doing that, Jake came up with the idea to do a purple sheet and put our hands in it with white paint. It was such a great idea and brought so many of us together to honor Grandma and remember something special we did for her one last time. It brings tears to my eyes thinking about it.
They also decided to put the casket on a flatbed trailer, pulled by a tractor with chickens clucking their song on the way to the cemetery. Grandma grew up on a farm and LOVED chickens. It was such a fun way to remember her.

It is always such a great experience to feel the spirit of eternal families and the knowledge that we have that we will see Grandma Ruth again and that she is happy now being with Grandpa Glenn after so many years. She was 90 years old when she died and died in the same house she was born in...you can't get much better than that!

We will miss you Grandma Ruth!!
