Motorbiking to Alpine ...

This has kind of become a early tradition and it is so much fun!  We take our 4-wheelers and motorbikes up and drive from Indian Creek (I think) to Alpine, Wyoming on the old highway that is now underwater most of the time, except when the dam is low.  It is a fun ride and it gives Anthony lots of practice on his motorbike.  The kids all switch around and go with different people, usually leaving me all alone on my 4-wheeler ... but I don't mind so much :).

The Great Snake River Tri ...

The Great Snake River Tri!  What a race...it was beautiful!  I decided to do the race on Thursday, the event being on Saturday.  It was actually kind of nice to not have to worry about it so much beforehand!  I wasn't nearly as nervous for this one as I was for my Rigby Tri even with it being in the river.
It was quite a different feel for this event for me.  I was doing it 'by myself', only my son Nene came.  I am grateful I know so many people in the actual tri community so I had a few people there to cheer me on.  It is amazing what a little cheer can do for you!
That morning, I went and set up my T1 spot first.  It was in a different location than T2, which was different than at Rigby.  I put everything at T1 because I don't have to change my shoes.  So T2 was empty for me.  After T1 was set up, went over to T2 to await the athlete's meeting and socialize with everyone.  Got my fuel in me, went to the bathroom and then walked over to the swim entrance.  Oh how the jitters start when you are standing there. At least I didn't start crying this time!  Progress!  I was hoping to get my swim time down quite a bit because of the current in the river, but that didn't happen much.  The current was swift when you first started but after that it was only slightly there.  I was kind of hoping it would have been more :).  Beautiful swim though, the river wasn't very clear, but the trees were beautiful, the sky was pretty and there were lots of people around me the whole time, not close enough to hit me, but enough I could see them when I was swimming!
I didn't hate every minute of the swim this time, which to me is progress!  It was still super hard and I was super excited to get to the end...except the moss that tried to eat me when getting out :).  It was scratchy and frustrating to be in moss right at the end, but it made me even happier to be out of the water.  I was exhausted so I kind of took my time walking up to the strippers and getting into T1.

Once I got on Daisy, the world was happy again!  I loved the ride.  The way out there were quite a few hills, but if you go up them, you get to come down them, which is great.  The back side of the course was really bumpy, but it was less than a mile so it wasn't awful.  Just felt like I might get bumped off my bike was all!  I pushed it pretty hard on the bike hoping for a good time.  I did okay on time. I averaged 16.2 according to my chip so I'll take it.  Hopefully next year will be faster.
T2 was a quick, rack my bike, take a drink and off for the run.  The run was pretty simple for the first mile or so, just street stuff.  Once we went onto the paved path behind the houses and around a man made lake it was beautiful.  I felt strong on the run, but could tell my body was running out of fuel.  It was aching and just tired in areas it has never been tired.  But I never walked and finished strong.

Nene was there to capture some fun photos of me!  It was nice to have a few at least to remember the awesome accomplishment.  I love how mentally strong I have become in overcoming pain and keeping my body going.
I ended up 2nd in my age group, 1:40:52 was my chip time.  Pretty good for only my 2nd triathlon!  Can't wait to do it again next year and improve my time!

Rexburg Splash Park...

This was the first year that we went up to the Rexburg Splash Park that the kids actually PLAYED in the water without my threatening them.  Glad to see they are growing up a bit and enjoying the water more!

Bear Lake Camel ...

Jeral heard that camels love to swim, so while we were at Bear Lake he thought he would give it a try.  On a private beach, we gave it a shot.  Jake had to do some convincing for Ralphie to get out there, but once he was in he didn't seem to mind.  They never really got deep enough for Ralphie to swim, but Jason ended up getting Dude far enough in to swim!  It was fun to watch these amazing animals!

Family Reunion in Bear Lake ...

The kids had a great time at Bear Lake!  They had fun going out as far as they could in the semi-warm water.  They also really had a great time making sand castles and 'hot tubs' in the sand.  And nobody even got sick from the water this year!!  Love going to Bear Lake!

Love is time ...

This is one of my very favorite things to see ... my wonderful husband reading to a few of our children!

Quick trip to Logan ...

Bryan, Janelle and their cute kids were here visiting from Texas so we decided to take a quick trip down to see them.  We decided to go to the Logan pool and had a great time!  The kids are starting to become good swimmers and they all had so much fun....we even went down the big slide!

Boise 70.3 ...

What a crazy day!  Windy, HOT and lots of waiting.  We hung out in the hotel pool for as long as we thought was safe and then headed down to the bike/run transition and waited.  It was torture not knowing where the boys were and if they were doing well.  It was a brutal day for bike riding so it took a lot longer than they thought it would, so we waited for a lot longer than we wanted.  After we saw them come in, we went over to see them on the run portion.  More waiting.  The kids were great sports for how hot it was.  They did a great job cheering on Jake and Jared when they went by and supporting all the other "Team Beef" athletes!

It was another very proud moment to see Jake cross that finish line.  he worked through some difficult things and did amazing!  Hard to believe he has already done 2 half ironmans!

Swimming in Boise ...

Our kids LOVE the water.  The hotel at the pool in Boise had a nice one and it was nice and warm outside to offset the freezing cold water.  The kids didn't seem to mind, but boy did I think it was cold.  We did as much swimming as we could.  The kids and I spent most of the morning of the race at the pool with Laura and her kids waiting to meet up with the boys the first time.  What a great way to spend the morning/early afternoon!

Iron Kids 1 mile run ...

When we went over to Boise for Jake's 70.3 they had a fun IronKids race the night before.  The kids really wanted to go do it and we are glad we did.  It was the first time we had really run with the kids so we weren't sure how it was going to go.  It ended up going really well!  Anthony ran by himself and told us he ran the whole way :).  Jenna and I ran together and she only took 1 little walking break.  Jake pushed Owen and Lydia ran next to them.  He said she did so awesome and ran a long ways before she stopped for a break.  It was a fun way to start off our summer of running together!

Clogging in Rigby...

Jenna got to clog at the Rigby Day Celebration.  She loved it!  So fun to watch her up there on the stage dancing away!
