I love making memories with my little family! It just what makes my world so happy! Several years ago, Jake was the scout leader for our ward. He wanted to do something fun for the boys and decided to take them ice fishing at Bear Lake during the Cisco run. They are tiny little fish that come up to spawn and you can net them, catch them with a fishing pole or your bare hands if you can. We have wanted to go ever since because they had so much fun. The lake has to be pretty frozen for it to be any fun and it has been almost 6 years since the last time it has frozen over like this, so we had to go down. I didn't have super high expectations because really, how much fun could ice fishing with nets be? Boy was I wrong. It was SO fun. The conditions were prefect. The weather was nice, the kids were happy and the fish were plentiful. It was fun to see HOW many you could get in your net in one dip. Jake beat out my record of 7 at the very end right when all the fish were disappearing for the day (they only like to come out in the morning)...it was so fun. The kids got SUPER wet but it was nice enough day that they still weren't freezing. Everyone enjoyed themselves. Owen wanted to jump in the water, which made me kind of nervous, but he did good just toddling around the thick ice. The square hole you see in the pictures had tons of fish going through it and it was shallow enough to let Jenna, Lydia and Anthony have free reign over. I felt safe knowing that if they fell in they could stand up and we could get them out. The other part, where Anthony is most of the time, made me a bit more nervous but they were very good listeners when we told them to stay away from the edge and to be really careful. We all tried to get one with a pole, which is super hard because they are not interested in eating. Anthony was thrilled when he caught one with his pole and insisted we send the picture to his Grandpas! It was so fun and I cannot wait for the lake to freeze over again!
