Once a year, the water gets shut off of the HUGE canal that is connected to the Snake River. This canal is as big as the river as it feeds into all the little canals around town. So, the fish that come from the river and get caught in the canal are going to die because the water is gone. They let you catch these fish anyway you can. You can pick them up with your hand if you are fast enough. Its fun to see how many you can get with a net. We try to fish them out too, but they aren't too interested in feeding when they are in a tiny little pool of water.
We took the kids up there the night they turned the water off. Most of the canal was already drained off and we were able to find a few pools with fish in them. The pool we found this night had mostly white fish in them, but we were able to get a few trout out. Jake went the next night with his scouts and netted tons of trout and big ones at that. It was fun to get out of the house and enjoy the outdoors...especially since yesterday we got a HUGE snow storm that left us with way too much snow for April.

Anthony and Jenna both had fun riding the four-wheeler, throwing rocks and catching fish!

O my goodness look at Jenna's muddy bum!!!! It looks like they had tons of fun. It's too bad this weather won't shape up so we could go camping sometime soon and let the kids out to run and play!!
How fun! That makes me get excited for summer and to take Lucas fishing and camping! So what are you guys going to do with all that fish??
So fun, now if the weather would just stay nice life would be grand. And I MIGHT even think about visting up there...someday! :)
