Bahrain Heritage Festival ..

I've been doing a lot of research to find cool things to do here in Bahrain for the short 6 week visit that we have and I stumbled upon the Bahrain Heritage Festival.  It was right down the street from our hotel, so we decided to give it a shot. I am so so glad we did.  It was like a little bizarre where people are there showing their talents and the cool things people make here on the island.  A lot of very old traditional ways of making things are still used on this island and it was really neat to see some of it.  There were woman there embroidering, a weaver, a basket weaver, food vendors (we got to try some yummy local food!), live music, falcon handler and the kids got to do a workshop on how to draw the local Bahrainian man!  It was so fun.  They gave the kids a bag of art supplies and taught them how to draw the guy in the traditional clothes.  The kids even got to keep the art supplies, plus it was all free (all except the food, which was worth the very little amount of money it was to experience their foods!).  It was so neat.  The atmosphere really made you feel like you were in the middle east and it was very cool.  The live music was amazing and we are hoping to go back again just to hear the music and let the kids do another workshop!  Such a fun way to experience a new environment!
