Baelo Claudia ...

We were a little hesitant to drag the kids back to a Roman ruin site, but this one was very nice and very interesting for the kids.  We were amazed at the things they remembered from our previous visits to ones in Italy.  The aqueduct, the market, the temples, the theater.  It was all very neat.  We thought it was neat to see another Roman market too after seeing the one in Cadiz that was a modern day market so the kids could visualize it a bit more.

The above picture is of the salt factories.  They were a means for the people to salt the tuna that they caught in the bay and ship it to other Roman cities.  They would put salt on top of tuna, layer upon layer.  Interestingly enough, they still do this technique today and we enjoyed a sample of the dried tuna earlier this week for dinner.  A very neat trip to the costal ruins of Baelo Claudia.
