Tarifa ...

Tarifa was a beautiful city full of Spanish and African flare.  It is just across the straight from Africa, maybe 35 minutes by a ferry and quite beautiful.  If you look closely on the water picture you can see the outline of Africa.  Too bad it wasn't a clearer day.  We enjoyed walking through the city and finding the overlook and the kids found this little cove to stay away from the wind!  It was a very busy, but beautiful day!

The statue below is of the king who 'saved' Tarifa whose son was captured by the Moors'.  According to history, he threw his own knife down to them to slit his throat rather than give up the city and the Moors' finally retreated.  He is still considered Guzman el Bueno ... but I'm not so sure he is all that good of a guy!
