Taormina...

Jake got home from work early two days ago and it was a clear day so we decided to venture up north a bit to see the city of Taormina.  It is a 'pedestrian' city with very limited car access and it was amazing!  It has one of the biggest best preserved Greek/Roman theaters.  It was seriously amazing.  And while you are sitting in the seats, you get to see the most incredible views because this city is perched on top of the mountain!

We parked below the city and rode the bus up to the city and then walked all around. Owen was so excited to be riding a bus. He kept telling us that this was his first time riding a 'school' bus.  He is so full of excitement!
The city was so beautiful.  The banister lined buildings surrounding the streets, the cobble stone streets, the sun shining, Italian people enjoying the sun.  I would go back to this city in a heart beat.  Loved it.

Above is another little theater right in  the middle of the city center.  Not very big compared to the huge one just up the street!  Below is the Piazza IX Aprile just off the Corso Umberta street (main street).  We walked into this Piazza with the local Italian's dinning at the cafe, the seaside view and totally and completely felt like we were in Italy.  It was quite spectacular, something I am sure I won't forget!
We got some Gelato and enjoyed it even though it had turned cold by the time we got it.  Jenna really wanted to get some with her Tooth Fairy money and was so happy to buy gelato with it. It was delish!  I had lemon, Anthony had mango and the other kids had oreo. Funny how you can come to a foreign country and still indulge in an oreo!
What a beautiful world we live in!
