Another amazing day at church in Italy! We drove up from Naples to Verona on Saturday and couldn't believe the difference in country side all the way up. Italy certainly has its different regions. We found our apartment in Verona with only having to drive around the block once! YEA! The driving here is way different and everyone actually follows the rules so it makes it easier to get places. We looked up church and found out that there are actually 2 wards in the Verona province and was surprised by that. Only 2 branches in all of Naples and one ward in all of Sicily, so it was quite different to see that there were 2 whole branches here. We were in the area that attended the Verona 1st ward, so off we went to church. We enjoyed a sacrament meeting about the amazing Relief Society Organization. The spirit testifies of the truthfulness of this even when the women are singing "As Sisters in Zion" in Italian. I love it! I get chills thinking about it even now.
Another amazingly beautiful blessing from Heavenly Father happened when the missionaries set up a sister in the ward who spoke English to teach and take our kids to primary. Her name is Alessia Ciccio and she and her husband Lucas are seriously amazing. She loved our children like her own and they were very happy to have someone who spoke English. Alessia and Lucas invited us and one of the missionary companionship over for lunch after church. It was one of my most treasured experiences here in Italy. To get to truly enjoy the Italian's and their home. We laughed and played and sang and talked for about 4 hours, until the missionaries needed to go to an appointment. We couldn't have enjoyed our day any more. For the Ciccio's to open up their home to American strangers, yet we were instantly friends and had so much to talk about. We were truly blessed by them on Sunday!
It still amazes me that the Lord would put someone in our path to help us like this. We could have been okay going back to our apartment and spending time together, but instead he enriched our lives with new friends and experiences. Truly amazing the blessings we have received through our going to church here in Italy. They had a new little baby who was 6 weeks old and Lydia and Anthony couldn't get enough of little Nora. She was a cute little thing. Even Owen held her and looked at her cute little fingers. I love the gospel and how it makes you feel like you have family wherever you go!
