Neuswanstein Castle...

Yet again, another WOW moment.  Germany was amazingly beautiful.  We drove to see this beautiful castle that was part of the inspiration of the Disney castle.  It was amazing!  King Ludwig II was obsessed with castles and although this one was not ever completed, what was done took 17 years for him to only live in it for less than 1/2 a year before he died.  It is clear up the mountain side and was quite the hike up so we splurged and got taken up by a horse drawn wagon.  It was fun!  We felt like Cinderella being taken to her ball!  Fun.  They take you through the castle, which was quite ornate.  I cannot even imagine living in a place like that.  The kings bed looked almost exactly like the cathedral in Milan, gothic style, just made out of wood.  It was incredible.  After the tour, we hiked up to see the view of the castle from an old rickety bridge going over some beautiful waterfalls and the gorge.  It was kind of scary being up on the bridge, at least for me, the kids didn't seem to mind it so much.  It created a beautiful view though!

Even though the destination of the castle was the main goal, I think we enjoyed the drive just as much.  Lakes, cute little German towns, dairy farms, fields with tractors, churches dotting the landscape, it was just picturesque.  Truly a beautiful country.  We enjoyed some German pretzels too and they were amazing!  We stopped at a little German grocery store to pick up some German sausages for dinner and the people were so friendly!  The sausages turned out to be truly yummy too!  What a fun day had in Germany!
